Professor to Inventor to Entrepreneur: The Excitement of High-Tech Innovation
Speaker: Dr. James C. Wyant, Professor Emeritus of Optical Sciences at The University of Arizona
Dr. James C. Wyant is the founding dean of the College of Optical Sciences at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Along with his many academic achievements, Dr. Wyant has served as a member and leader of optical sciences organizations including the Optical Society of America and the International Society for Optics and Photonics.
Dr. Wyant has engaged in numerous entrepreneurial ventures, including the founding of two high-tech companies. In recoginition of his many accomplishments, the University of Arizona College of Business and Public Administration named him an Entrepreneurial Fellow. He has also received Arizona's “Innovator of the Year” Product Award and the University of Arizona Technology Innovation Award.
He received a B.S. in physics from Case Western Reserve University and an M.S. and Ph.D. in optics from the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester.
The lecture will take place in the Janet M. Daley Library Lecture Hall. Reception to follow in the Fenway Room.
