About this Event
BSU and CDEI host an evening with award-winning author and NYT Magazine Photography Critic Teju Cole
In-Person and Virtual
Essayist, novelist, photographer and art critic: Few people view the world from all angles the way Teju Cole does. Having published two captivating and lauded novels, Every Day Is for the Thief and Open City, his latest release is an essay collection titled Known and Strange Things. In both his talks and his art, Teju explores multinational identity: finding fresh and potent ways to interpret art, people, and historical moments. With his finger firmly on the pulse of race relations in America, Teju knows the power of art when it comes to examining the distribution of justice, intersectionality and social movements. He’ll share his experiences with how the power of the written word can be used to evoke emotions, conjure memories, and achieve real change.
