BIOL1105 Introduction to Cellular and Molecular Biology - Spring 2025
This travel course will be offered during the Spring 2025 semester at Emmanuel. One lab section will complete approximately half of the lab work during the travel course to Ecuador in May 2025.
Travel Dates: May 19 - May 30, 20215
The final program fee will be available in early September 2024, but is estimated to be $4,364.

Student scientists will travel to Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands as the lab component for BIOL1105. The Galápagos Islands are where Charles Darwin first made landfall in 1835 and remain an important site for evolutionary research today. Student scientists will partake in labs and excursions to study the unique Galápagos ecosystem and get hands-on experiences with a range of molecular biology techniques. Labs will be taught by Emmanuel and University of San Francisco de Quito faculty. Students will partake in labs and excursions to study this unique ecosystem and get hands-on experiences with a range of molecular biology techniques. Participants will also enjoy three excursions led by Galápagos National Park trained wildlife specialists.
All Emmanuel students are eligible to apply for the Emmanuel Travel Award for Spring 2025 study abroad and travel courses. Awards are $1,000 and the application is due on October 9, 2024. Apply at this link: https://forms.office.com/r/EBZqJQQdjY
Students who receive the Federal Pell Grant as part of their financial aid award may be eligible for the Gilman Scholarship (up to $5000 for study abroad)!
