Hispanic Art and Americas Lecture Series Presents: Art of the Spanish Viceroyalties at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
Collecting and displaying Spanish colonial art has become of increasing interest to US museums in recent years. Join Dennis Carr, Carolyn and Peter Lynch Curator of American Decorative Arts and Sculpture, Art of the Americas, for a discussion of the collection of Spanish colonial art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and its installation in the new Art of the Americas Wing, including newly acquired masterpieces of furniture, painting, and silver.
Dennis Carr, the Carolyn and Peter Lynch Curator of American Decorative Arts and Sculpture in Art of the Americas at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, is a specialist in colonial art of North, Central and South America. He worked on the new Art of the Americas Wing at the MFA and contributed to the book A New World Imagined: Art of the Americas (2010). He holds graduate degrees from the Winterthur Program in Early American Culture and the History of Art at Yale University.
