With great pleasure we announce the inaugural speaker for the Class of 1971 Dorothy Day Lecture Series, Sister Simone Campell, SSS! Sr. Simone is the Executive Director of NETWORK, a national Catholic social justice lobby, as well as the leader of NETWORK's successful "Nuns on the Bus" tours. Last year the group's efforts focused on protesting federal budget cuts to the poor, and this year they have tackled immigration reform. For more information on their efforts, visit

Sr. Simone, a noted public speaker on policy and advocacy, is also a lawyer, a poet and a member of the Sisters of Social Service. Her book, “A Nun on the Bus: A Spiritual Manifesto of Hope, Change and Community” will be published this spring and available prior to the lecture and at the book signing.
