ASA's API Month: Social Networking Etiquette
Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Want to ace that interview? Or make the perfect impression in 10 seconds or less? Know what to wear to that party? Or how to open a bottle of wine? When everything seems intuitive, we then make complete fools out of ourselves. Don't let that next time be you! The subtle prejudice of western professional etiquette have undermined Asian Americans’ potential for leadership in this country: the AAPPI community constitute the highest percentage of degree holders in higher education, and yet also the lowest percentage of those who are promoted to executive level positions. Why is that? This workshop will thus highlight the nuanced differences between Western and Eastern forms of professionalism and how it affects our psyche when we encounter the “bamboo ceiling.” We will assess your skills in the professional world and with this workshop you'll finally know the differences between business casual vs. business professional, wine vs. champagne, and black vs. white tie affairs.
Join us with Calvin Sun to kick off our Asian-Pacific Islander Month!
